More than half of the world's population is in danger, with an annual estimate of 100—400 million infections,1 96 million clinical symptoms, and 40‚Äà000 fatalities.2 Despite evidence of 30—50-fold increases in occurrences in tropical and subtropical regions in the past 50 years, and the fastest growing risk of dengue infection, an estimated 3 ∑97 billion people (in 129 countries) are vulnerable.

It has since focused on reducing poverty, with a wide portfolio that covers all sectors of development, including health.
